Short Bio:
Evalyne Wamuyu Miano is a final-year Petroleum Engineering student passionate about advancing sustainable and inclusive energy systems across Africa. With a strong focus on geothermal energy, she gained hands-on experience at KenGen, where she worked in geothermal engineering and developed practical insight into drilling operations and subsurface systems. This experience shaped her commitment to scaling clean, reliable energy solutions. Her academic work reflects this focus. She has conducted research investigating the use of locally sourced bentonite as an additive in geothermal drilling, contributing to efforts to strengthen local content while improving cost efficiency and energy affordability. She also has operational experience from Kenya Pipeline Company, giving her a broader understanding of the energy value chain. Beyond technical work, Evalyne is the Co-Founder and Program Lead of The Swap Circle, an initiative working to reduce textile waste in Kenya. As an event curator, she has organized over 40 events focused on circular economy, youth engagement, and sustainable living. She serves as Youth Representative in charge of communications for the Society of Petroleum Engineers Integrated Reservoir Management Technical Section, where she leads the Youth Voice segment through quarterly newsletters. She is also a STEM mentor at KUFFEST, an Energy4Me volunteer, and an AWEIK member and mentee, actively supporting energy education, mentorship, and women’s participation in the sector. She has further strengthened her expertise through certifications in e-mobility and Climate, Land, Energy and Water Systems (CLEWs), and is currently training in ESG and carbon accounting with the University of Cambridge and Energy Law with Electricity Lawyer Academy. Her work has earned her major recognition, including the Africa Queen of Energy 2025 (Student Award) and the Energy Leaders for Tomorrow award. Evalyne is driven by a clear mission to expand opportunities for women in energy and contribute to a just, locally grounded energy transition.
